Life and Ministry of Late Rev. Kallu. John. Joseph
Rev. Kallu Joseph was born on 08-02-1937 at Laxmipuram Village, Donabanda Pastorate, Adilabad District. His parents were Late Kallu John & Smt. Mariamma who were into village agriculture. Rev. Kallu Joseph had 4 sisters – Mrs. D. Kanakamma Davaiah, Mrs. Sharanamma Bushanam, Mrs. P. Ratnamma Yesurathnam, Mrs. A. Suguna Rathnaiah and 2 brothers – late Mr.Kallu Sunder Rao and Mr. Kallu David.
He did his schooling from CSI Mission High School, Luxettipet. He further went on to do Pre Vocational course from Medak Training School.
He did his High school at CSI Wesley Boys High School, Secunderabad. Got graduated in Bachelor of Arts from Osmania University, Hyderabad.
Later he went on to do his Theological studies in AUTC – Andhra United Theological College, Dornakal 4 years – L.Th. After completion of his Theological studies he was ordained as a presbyter in 1965 at Nirmal by Late Rt. Rev. Eber Priestly. Rev.Kallu Joseph was married to Kodari Soundarya Thilaka, D/o. Kodari Prakasham on 06-05-1965 at CSI Church, Donabanda, Adilabad District. They were blessed with 3 sons and 1 daughter, 5 Grandsons and 3 granddaughters.
Pastoral Ministry in CSI Medak Diocese
- 1964-1967 – Worked at Untoor Pastorate, Adilabad.
- 1967-1969 – Medico Evangelical Service at Sirpur (U) which is a remote tribal area.
- 1969-1971 – Sanathnagar Pastorate, Hyderabad
- 1971-1973 – Ramayampet Pastorate, Medak District, as Presbyter-in-Charge
- 1973-1975 – Pochera, Boath Pastorate, Adilabad District
- 1975-1980 – Worked as Missionary at Nirmal Bhainsa, Adilabad District
- 1980-1983 – Dudgaon Pasorate, Nizamabad District
- 1983-1988 – Nirmal pastorate, Adilabad District
- 1988-1993 – Dudgaon Pastorate, Nizamabad District
- 1993-1998 – Medak Cathedral, Medak
- 1998-2002 – Warasiguda Pastorate, Hyderabad
- 2002-2003 – Vanasthalipuram Pastorate, Hyderabad (Extension Period).

Apart from the Pastoral ministry he served for 2 terms on two occasions as a Chairman of Godavari District Church Council. At the Medak Diocesan Level he was
- Principal METS (Medak Evangelists Training School) at Medak
- Project Director for GPP (Grameena Praja Pragathi) for Rural Development
- Director for CRDTP (Comprehensive Rural Development Training Program) at Nirmal (Rabbit rearing, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Seri Culture and Irrigation)
- Diocesan Hostel Board Convenor
- Legal Questions Board Convenor
- Liturgy and Literature Convenor
- Ministerial Board Convenor
- Vice-Chairman of Medak Diocese (1994-1998)
- Medak Diocesan Treasurer (1998-2001)
Rev. Kallu Joseph served in the Diocese for 39 years and led many people especially from the rural congregation into the knowledge of Christ. He retired from the Diocesan Services on 08-02-2002. He was a perfect father, loving husband, simple, honest, hard working and dedicated servant of God in the ministry, wherever and whatever capacities he served in our Medak Diocese. He was loved by one and all. He was called to heavenly glory on 22-06-2011.We thank and praise God for his life and testimony and the Christian values he has practiced and taught to each one of us.
